Ekium helps EDF renovate the Le Cheylas hydroelectric plant (38)

EDF is carrying out major work to remove sediment from the Flumet reservoir, creating structures to allow it to flow from the reservoir into the Isère.

Work began in 2023 in Cheylas (38) and is scheduled to be completed in 2029.

Once the work is complete, the Cheylas hydroelectric plant will return to optimal operation, thereby fully contributing to the region’s sustainable energy production, and the sediment banks will no longer be visible, making the landscape more pleasant to view.

We are pleased to be part of this major project.

Ekium is providing project management services for the consortium consisting of MIDALI (lead contractor), RAMPA, and COLAS.

Our colleague Sophie BERQUIER, Project Manager, gave students from the École Chartreuse du Cheylas a tour of the site. It was a unique day that allowed them to learn about this project, how hydroelectric power is generated, and Sophie’s job!
